Hand made Patu form made from argillite - Rock which is a locally sourced rock from Southland, NZ. Traditionally used for tool making. The rock is hard in natural form and holds its shape well when carved. This piece was inspired by the old patu weapons - this is a smaller form modelled off the traditional large pounamu patu. This is also a partial weapon although the edge isn’t cutting sharp.

The muka was extracted from flax in Waitati, made with feathers from around Blueksin Bay, NZ.

This patu piece is 13cm in legth

and 6cm on the widest point.

The Muka and feather rope is a total of 14 cm in length.

This is designed to be a fine art piece, not a weapon.
